Right now, we’re in challenging times. From self-isolation, missing our family and friends – to working from home, being furloughed or facing worrying decisions about the future of our businesses.

Thinking of brighter times ahead when the world’s ready to recover again, it’ll be really important to be ready and waiting to seize new opportunities that come your way. Which is why now is a great time is a great time to train and learn.
In support of this, last Thursday, the government issued the following advice to employers of staff on furlough (a leave of absence): “A furloughed employee can take part in volunteer work or training, as long as it does not provide services to or generate revenue for, or on behalf of your organisation.”
The advice goes on to say that furloughed workers “must be paid at least the NLW/NMW for the time spent training, even if this is more than the 80% of their wage that will be subsidised.” Which isn’t an issue if your/your employees wage at 80%, meets the NLW/NMW.
You may find yourself working from home struggling to connect with your customers. You may find yourself on a leave of absence, but keen to be ready to connect with your customers on your return.
Whether now or in the future, a key way to engage with your current and prospective customers is through social media, but you might not even know where to start.
